What the service is

One Artifex reads a photograph of a restaurant receipt, lets you assign each item to a person, and works out what each person owes. It can combine several bills from one outing and show the fewest transfers that settle the group up.

By using the app at app.oneartifex.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

It is a calculator, not a payment service

• One Artifex never moves money. There is no wallet, no payment integration, and no transfer of funds of any kind.
• Settle up shows who owes whom. Acting on it, and actually paying each other, is entirely between you and the people on your bill.
• We are not a party to any debt, agreement or dispute between you and anyone you split a bill with.

Check the numbers

• Receipt reading is automated and will sometimes be wrong. A model reads the photo. It can misread a digit, miss a line, or misjudge a quantity.
• The app shows you what it read and flags when a bill does not reconcile, so you can correct it before splitting. That check is yours to make.
• You are responsible for what you and your friends pay. We are not liable for a wrong amount, whatever caused it.

Links you create

• Anyone holding a share or claim link can read that bill. The address is long and random, but it is not password-protected. Send links only to the people on the bill.
• Claim links stop accepting claims after 24 hours. Share links expire after 180 days. We may remove a link sooner if it is abused.
• Do not put anything in a bill, a name or a link that you are not entitled to share.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• Use the service for anything unlawful, or to harass anyone.
• Attempt to break, overload or circumvent the service, its rate limits or its security.
• Scrape it, resell it, or pass it off as your own.
• Upload images you have no right to upload.

Accounts

No account is needed for any part of the app. Signing in is optional and does one thing: it syncs your own history across your own devices. If you do sign in, keeping your sign-in details safe is your responsibility.

Availability

• The service is free and provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. We do not promise it will be available, accurate, or free of faults.
• Receipt scanning depends on a third-party model with a daily cap. Scanning can pause. Manual entry does not depend on it.
• We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any time, including stopping it altogether.

Third parties we rely on

Receipt images are read by Google Gemini. The app is hosted on Vercel, this site on Cloudflare, and shared bills are stored with Supabase. Each processes data under its own terms, which we do not control. How your data is handled is set out in our privacy policy.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, One Artifex is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service, including incorrect amounts, unavailability, lost data, or any disagreement between people splitting a bill. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top shows when they last did. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the current version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia.
